Animal Rescue League

The Dedham branch of the ARL is back to visit with surprise animal guests and lessons on pet care. FREE. All are welcome. Thursdays July 10th, July 31st, and August 21st, 11 a.m.

Special Booksigning Events

Monday, July 7th
When my Dad Comes Home, by Lupina Vela. The author visits to read and talk about her poignant picture book about a boy waiting for his Dad to come home from military service. Both English and Spanish editions available. A special book for all military families or any child waiting for an absent parent. 7 p.m.

Thursday, July 10th
If the World were a Village, by David J. Smith. The author visits with a DVD presentation about his picture book lesson on world demographics for elementary-aged kids. If the world were a village of 100 people, what would it look like? A fascinating lesson for kids and grown-ups on the characteristics of the world’s population. 7 p.m.

Wednesday, August 6th
Catie Copley, by Deborah Kovacs. Meet the famous black lab Catie, canine ambassador at Boston’s famed hotel, the Copley Plaza. Originally trained as a guide dog and now part of the hotel’s guest services team, Catie herself will be on hand to paw-tograph her book with Copley concierge Jim Carey, while author Kovacs reads the picture book that tells her story. Don’t miss this very special event. Reading at 3 p.m.

Wednesday, August 13th
Judy Moody Goes to College, by Megan MacDonald and illustrated by Peter H. Reynolds. The newest book in the best-selling series is finally here. Add it to your summer reading list! Peter will be on hand for a summer booksigning party at the Blue Bunny from 3-5 p.m.

Meet the Authors for Book Discussion Groups

For Teens and Adults
Read Freak by Marcella Pixley. Buy the book first and read Pixley’s novel about a middle-school aged girl who doesn’t fit in. Themes of family conflict, bullying, acceptance of differences, and resolution are covered in this provocative new novel. Author Marcella Pixley will be visiting The Blue Bunny on Tuesday July 29th at 7 pm. to discuss. Pixley’s presentation will be great for teens, parents, and educators. FREE and open to the public.

For Kids ages 9-12
Read The Puzzle in the Portrait and The Mystery on Observatory Hill, two of the Hidden Treasure Mysteries by Eleanor Rosellini. We will meet as a group to begin the conversation on Tues. July 15th from 3 - 4 p.m., and welcome author Eleanor Rosellini on Tues. August 5th at 3 p.m. for a presentation on her writing and her books. FREE but please pre-register.
